Now is the time for Highs and Lows! Remember, we need useful lows as much as we love to see highs! Highs tell us what you want to see again, and lows let us know what we need to fix. While you can list lows like "I got sick" or "I had to leave to go to work", these are not things we can change. They make me smile, because it means that you had such an amazing time you didn't have any complaints, but at the same time, if you have concerns, complaints, or suggestions, we really need to hear them.
If you have any issues listing lows in a public forum, as I am aware some folks do, PLEASE feel free to message me, or any of our other staff members (if your concern, perhaps, is about me for example), with said concerns. If you have complaints/concerns about specific players or staff, please do NOT post them in the public forum, but instead send them in a private message, so we do not embarrass anyone, but so that we can still address it.
Staff members include:
Joe Makemson
Steve Burrows
Baylee Carr
Jon Langdon
Mark Greenfield
Garen Eisen
Rob Zimmerman
Jonathan Gehman
Now that the discussion about Lows is out of the way, let's talk about Highs for a second! If you saw something a fellow player did that you loved, don't forget to mention it! It will make them smile, and let them know that their behavior was liked. If there was a mod layout or aspect you liked, let us know! If there was a particularly interesting mechanic, monster, etc, that you saw, speak and be heard!
Concerns that were voiced during this event:
No light in the outhouses
~~Working on it. NPC's potty has a candle in it, and we keep putting lights in the PC potty, but I think someone steals them. If we put a lantern in the PC potty, will you guys turn it off during the day, and not steal it?
NPCs stabbing with the claws often results in face-shots
~~Informed NPCs, will continue informing NPCs, and will keep an eye on it. Let me know if it happens again.
Players Physically touching other players, shoulder checking or man-handling
~~Unless you know, FOR CERTAIN, that the person you are about to touch is ok with it: don't touch anyone. We have weapons for that. If you do not know, 100% (and that means ASKING ahead of time and getting a clear "yes" to that level of physical interaction) hands off. Hand shaking? Allowable. Gently touching someone's arm to heal them or perform surgery? Allowable.
Shoulder Checking? Choking? Body Slamming? Back rubs? Hugs? Ask... First.
No "trainers"
~~Since you can self teach anything, and you do not need a trainer to learn new skills, feats, etc, we don't really send out NPCs who are there solely to train. Any NPC can be asked to teach something, though some may just not want to do so (some characters are jerks, after all.) Players can train each other, as well. If you get "taught" something during the event, you can buy it immediately and use it that event. If not, you have it all the next event. When you see "cast characters" (reoccurring NPC characters), you can always ask if they know any recipes, or can teach you abilities.
Three cheers (or many more) to Mark Greenfeld and Garen Eisen, who ran an INCREDIBLE adventure this weekend! They put the event together and did a phenomenal job wrangling PCs and NPCs alike. I thought it was an impressive story, and a difficult trick to pull off, and they did an astounding job.
On top of that, everyone should pat themselves on the back like WOAH. Main-mod saw the players split down the middle, friend fighting friend, massive bloodshed, and a few blessed individuals running around the field like crazy people, trying to keep their allies from straight up killing one another: and there were no arguments to speak of. Everyone was great, the sportsmanship was amazing, and I am still smiling from the experience. There were three of us acting as OOG GMs on that mod, in case we needed to moderate/referee, and it was never needed. You guys are amazing as hell!!!
Also, thank you for opening a portal to the Void. Everyone giggling when I explained what had gone wrong was one of the many highlights of my weekend, and listening to the 4 people who didn't have lore CRACKING UP in the background was one of the funniest things all event.
Let's hear it, folks!
