So as we transition to a new campaign there is a lot of work going into fixing up the town.
What improvements would you like to see on/in/around the town IRL?

Noise/light barriers to the neighboring properties. I don't know how we haven't gotten the cops called on us yet, with fewer and fewer trees every year between us and other people's houses. Depending on the season, home improvement stores sell trees to plant for cheap.

Better, more consistent lighting for in-town, and mod sites. Keeping it in-game looking, of course, but tripping hazards, and not being able to find paths is a major frustration for me. Also, Scrolls are a tough game play element without some sort of lighting available. I know people are often proud of their excellent night vision, but mine is garbage.

I know it would be expensive/time-consuming/a lot of work, but a defensive wall around the town would be neat. It makes sense to protect your frontier town from the dangerous wilds, plus it creates sight blocks to mods being set up nearby. It also allows NPCs to sneak up on the town (there's no way we're watching the gates at all times) and makes defending the gates important, because if the enemy takes control of them, players can't get back into town to rest. Construction-wise, it could be anything from an actual fence, to branches piled up (look up a wattle fence if you want to get fancy for cheap), or logs stacked on top of each other, etc.

Some leveling of the ground in certain areas of town (outside the pub, outside the Silver Hall, etc) would be lovely, to prevent the lakes that form as soon as it rains. I agree, some level of fencing would be nice, even it it is just that straw matting you can get to cover your lawn when you seed, for the illusion of a barrier and all the things Brian said. We need to do a lot of work to our building, which this whole virus thing has prevented us getting down like we planned to do the last few months. UGH. But hey, we bought a new pop-up to replace the gazebo what collapsed under the weight of its own hubris towards the end of last campaign...
I think a kitchen-area set up near the campfire would be a good idea, especially with the need to cook around it for the next few months. A dedicated pop up for over there, some folding tables that can be aid up, and a bin of various helpful cooking implements, a wash station, etc. Not sure if that was already done, but just a thought.
